SPEECH/LANGUAGE THERAPY

Speech Therapy Sessions
Therapy intervention sessions can be held in the setting that is most appropriate for the child – whether that be at home, school, daycare, child development center or community setting. Speech Path OC specializes in working with children with autism spectrum disorders, oral-motor disorders, expressive/receptive language disorders, learning disabilities, fluency (stuttering) disorders, social language impairments, articulation disorders and hearing loss/Cochlear Implant patients. All therapy sessions are 50 minutes in length with 5-10 minutes at the end to discuss activities done in the session, child’s current level of progress and strategies that can be carried over in the home or school for maximum success. Frequency of sessions per week is determined based on severity and areas of difficulty the child presents with. We strive to provide a weekly/biweekly verbal or brief written progress note of how the child is progressing.

SPEECH AND/OR LANGUAGE EVALUATIONS

If your child has difficulty pronouncing certain sounds – making his or her speech difficult to understand – an articulation evaluation will be administered to determine error sounds that are or are not developmentally appropriate and the current level of intelligibility (based on data from age-matched peers).  If your child has minimal words, short sentences and difficulty following instructions or understanding what others are saying, a comprehensive receptive/expressive language evaluation will be administered. Both evaluations may be administered based on the recommendation of the clinician. A written report of all informal and formal assessments, as well as recommendations for services, will be provided. Arrangements can be made for evaluations without a formal written report if appropriate.

CONSULTATIONS

A free 15-minute phone consultation can be provided in order to determine if our services best match your needs. If longer is needed, we are happy to accommodate. 
In addition, we can provide lengthier consultations in regards to navigating school-based services, IEP assistance, advocacy or other related services.

MONTHLY CHECK-INS

These are ideal for a child who has "graduated" from speech therapy (most commonly following mastery of a trouble speech sound). This 60-minute consultation is critical for carry-over and generalization of skills obtained in therapy over a variety of possible speaking opportunities.

SPEECH/LANGUAGE SCREENINGS

These are 15-30 minutes in length and consist of a non-standardized screening of current speech and language skills and in order to determine if further evaluation is necessary. These can be performed at schools, daycares or homes. Please inquire if you are interested in having us come to your school and screen your students!
